FIRST LOVE

This was created for the Hey Fokop student initiative by Am I Collective. The winners get their illustrations made into transferable tattoos which is pretty awesome.

ZINE

BRIEF

Interview 4 people with the question: ‘If your house was burning- what would you take? ‘, then document their choice of objects. Using this information, create a A5 zine in which you illustrate a portrait of each person as well as their collections and a close-up of one of the objects.

RATIONALE

I decided to go for a slighly humerous, off-beat approach to the ‘Burning House’ theme. I decided that the cause for the fire was a radiation-leak coming from a crashed satellite which transformed my subjects (as well as their collections) into zombies. I focused on the little things which make each person memorable in my life- the things they do or say, and even the things which irritate me about them.

For this project I did two things that I’ve never done before: I chose an over-dose of sickly pastel colours which contrasts with the theme, hoping that it would make the zine more off-beat and unexpected, and I worked mainly in vector which turned out to be a fun experience. I hope this zine translates my style, as well as the enjoyment I found in creating it!

FEMINISM POSTER

Inspired by the work of Penny Siopus, I created this poster to celebrate Women's Day.

QUOTE

This was a project to explore digital painting. We had to focus the illustration on a quote from a book. Mine was: "Men do what they can; women do what men cannot" from Ines of my Soul by Isabel Allende. It's a light hearted comment on the saying "behind every powerful man is an even more powerful woman". I absolutely adore Allende's portrayal of the conquistadors of Chile and their wives.

MEXICAN FIESTA

This was just a quick poster created for a "Fiesta" on campus.
